Organic Coriander (Insai) 80G
Description
Organic Coriander, also known as Daun Ketumbar or Cilantro, is a fresh aromatic herb with bright green leaves and a distinctive citrusy, slightly peppery flavour. It is commonly used as a garnish and flavouring in Malaysian, Thai and other Asian dishes, including soups, curries, sauces and rice dishes.
-
Plant: Features slender, erect, branching stems topped with delicate, feather-like fan-shaped leaves and small, white-to-pale-pink flower umbels at maturity.
-
Foliage and Stems: The leaves are thin, flat, and deeply lobed with a vibrant bright green color, while the tender stems and earthy taproots carry a concentrated, pungent citrus aroma.
- Growth Habit: A fast-growing, delicate annual herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 12 to 20 inches, forming erect leafy bunches that mature in 30 to 45 days before bolting into seed-bearing flowers.
-
Origin: Native to Southern Europe, Northern Africa, and Southwestern Asia, now cultivated globally across tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate regions.
-
Climate: Thrives in cool-to-warm, sunlit environments; sensitive to extreme lowland heat which causes rapid bolting (flowering), making highland or shaded cultivation ideal in tropical regions.
-
Soil: Prefers light, rich, well-draining loamy or sandy soil with moderate moisture and a neutral pH (6.2–6.8), avoiding waterlogged conditions to protect its delicate taproot system.
