Organic Hong Kong Sawi 200G
Description
-
Plant: Features tender, light green to deep emerald leaves branching from crisp, succulent stems. As it matures, it produces small, delicate, yellow four-petaled flowers at the top of the central stalk.
-
Foliage and Stems: The leaves are oval-shaped with smooth or slightly wavy margins, while the stalks are pale green, juicy, and less fibrous than common mustard greens (Sawi Pahit).
-
Origin: Native to Southern China and Southeast Asia, where it is a staple leafy vegetable in Cantonese and regional Asian cuisines.
-
Climate: Thrives in warm, sub-tropical and tropical climates, requiring bright, direct sunlight and consistent moisture, though it tolerates mild cool spells better than many tropical greens.
-
Soil: Prefers rich, fertile, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter (pH 6.0–7.0) and regular watering to keep the stems succulent and prevent early bolting.
-
Culinary: Highly versatile; commonly flash-fried with garlic and oyster sauce, stir-fried with meats, blanched and served dim-sum style, or added to noodle soups and hot pots.
-
Nutritional: Rich in Vitamins A, C, and K, as well as calcium, iron, and folate, providing strong antioxidant properties, immune support, and essential dietary fiber.
