Organic Local Lotus Roots 300G
Description
-
Plant: Features sausage-like cylindrical link segments growing horizontally in underwater mud, connected to large floating peltate leaves and fragrant lotus flowers above the water surface.
-
Rhizome and Flesh: The outer skin is smooth, buff-to-pale reddish-tan, enclosing a firm, creamy-white inner flesh perforated by 7 to 9 symmetrical longitudinal air canals that create a decorative lace pattern when sliced crosswise.
-
Origin: Native to tropical and warm temperate regions of Asia (including India, China, and Southeast Asia), widely cultivated across lowland aquatic agricultural ecosystems.
-
Climate: Thrives in warm, sunny tropical lowlands (20°C to 35°C) with constant access to still, non-flowing shallow water bodies and high relative humidity.
-
Soil: Requires deep, rich, heavy clay-loam or muddy aquatic soil rich in organic silt (pH 6.0–7.0) to anchor the thick rhizomes underwater.
-
Culinary: Highly valued in traditional Chinese and Asian cooking; slow-simmered in nourishing Cantonese pork rib and peanuts soup, stir-fried with garlic and snow peas, stuffed with glutinous rice as a dessert, braised, or deep-fried into crispy lotus root chips.
-
Nutritional: High in complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, potassium, copper, and iron, supporting healthy circulation, digestive regularity, and natural immunity.
