Organic Chinese Cabbage 1KG
Description
-
Plant: Features a large, tall, tightly packed cylindrical or barrel-shaped head composed of elongated, crinkled leaf blades anchored by thick white midribs.
-
Foliage and Stems: The outer leaf tips are pale light-green to ruffled yellowish-green, while the broad, flat lower stems are crisp, porcelain-white, succulent, and highly tender.
-
Origin: Native to the Yangtze River region of China, now widely cultivated throughout East Asia, Southeast Asia, and temperate agricultural zones globally.
-
Climate: Thrives best in cool, mild temperatures (13°C to 20°C) and tropical highland agricultural regions such as Cameron Highlands; warm lowland heat causes heads to loose form or bolt prematurely.
-
Soil: Prefers rich, deep, well-draining loamy soil with high organic matter content and a neutral pH (6.0–7.0), requiring uniform moisture to foster thick, juicy white stems.
-
Culinary: Exceptionally versatile; a principal ingredient in hotpots, claypot dishes, and steamboats, stir-fried with dried shrimp or glass noodles (Soun), simmered in clear Cantonese soups, or fermented to make traditional Korean Kimchi.
-
Nutritional: Extremely low in calories and water-rich; packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin K, folate, calcium, and glucosinolates that support immune function, bone density, and digestive wellness.
