Organic Beetroot 500G
Description
-
Plant: Features a bulbous, spherical to turnip-shaped underground taproot crowned with a rosette of upright, glossy green leaves with rich purple-red stems and veins.
-
Foliage and Stems: The skin of the root is rough and dark reddish-brown, concealing a dense, juicy, deep magenta-to-crimson inner flesh patterned with fine concentric rings.
-
Origin: Native to the coasts of the Mediterranean region (originally cultivated for its edible leaves as sea beet), now grown worldwide across temperate regions and cool tropical highlands.
-
Climate: Thrives best in cool-to-mild climates (15°C to 22°C) or cool tropical highlands like Cameron Highlands; hot weather can cause the roots to become woody, stringy, or pale in internal color.
-
Soil: Prefers loose, deep, stone-free, well-draining sandy loam or loamy soil rich in organic matter with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH (6.0–7.5) to allow smooth, symmetrical root development.
-
Culinary: Highly versatile in raw and cooked preparations; roasted to intensify sweetness, boiled for clear soups or Russian borscht, grated raw into salads, pickled in spice vinegar, or blended into cold pressed health juices.
-
Nutritional: Exceptionally rich in inorganic nitrates, betalain antioxidants (which give it its intense red pigment), folate (Vitamin B9), manganese, potassium, and dietary fiber, supporting healthy blood pressure, athletic stamina, and liver detoxification.
