Physical Appearance

Plant: Features a large, tightly packed central dome (curd) composed of undeveloped flower meristems, surrounded and protected by thick, heavy green outer leaves.
Foliage and Stems: The central head is creamy-white, dense, and firm, anchored by a thick, pale central stalk; the surrounding wrapper leaves are coarse, blue-green, and erect.
Growth Habit: An upright, cool-season annual brassica that grows 18 to 28 inches tall, forming a single main head harvested after 70 to 100 days before the florets loosen or open into flower stalks.

Habitat and Growth

Origin: Native to the Mediterranean basin, widely cultivated across temperate agricultural regions and cool tropical highlands globally.
Climate: Thrives in cool, temperate microclimates (15°C to 20°C) or highland tropical growing areas (such as Cameron Highlands); sensitive to extreme lowland heat, which causes discoloring or loose, ricey curds.
Soil: Prefers deep, rich, moist, well-draining loamy soil high in organic matter and nitrogen with a neutral pH (6.0–7.0), requiring uniform soil moisture to foster dense curd development.

How to Use
Cut the cauliflower into florets and rinse thoroughly before cooking. Cauliflower can be stir-fried with meat or other vegetables, added to soups and curries, roasted in the oven, steamed or boiled. It is also suitable for mixed vegetable dishes such as Cap Cai. For another option, cooked cauliflower can be mashed and served as a side dish.

Nutritional Benefits
Cauliflower is a nutritious vegetable that provides dietary fibre, vitamin C, vitamin K, folate and vitamin B6. It also contains plant compounds called glucosinolates, which are naturally found in cruciferous vegetables. Cauliflower can be a versatile addition to a balanced diet.
