Organic Chinese Broccoli (Kai Lan) 200G
Description
-
Plant: Features thick, succulent, blue-green to deep emerald stems that yield glossy, broad leaves and small, tight clusters of white, four-petaled flower buds at the top.
-
Foliage and Stems: The leaves are smooth, thick, and slightly waxy, while the central stalks are firm, juicy, and crisp when cooked, offering a toothsome bite.
-
Origin: Native to Southern China and widely cultivated throughout East and Southeast Asia as a staple brassica crop.
-
Climate: Thrives in sub-tropical and tropical environments; prefers moderate warmth and full sunlight, though it performs exceptionally well in cool highland areas.
-
Soil: Prefers rich, fertile, well-draining loamy soil with abundant organic matter and consistent moisture to keep the central stalks tender and prevent woodiness.
-
Culinary: A classic favorite in Cantonese cuisine; most famously blanched and drizzled with oyster sauce, stir-fried with garlic and ginger, or cooked alongside beef, seafood, and flat rice noodles (Char Hor Fun).
-
Nutritional: Exceptionally rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, calcium, iron, and glucosinolates, supporting strong bone health, cellular defense, and immune function.
