Description

The Eksotika Papaya is Malaysia's premier commercial papaya cultivar, developed through targeted breeding programs to produce a sweet, high-quality dessert papaya with fine, aromatic flesh.

Physical Appearance

Fruit: Medium-sized, pyriform (pear-shaped) fruit on female plants or elongated-cylindrical on hermaphrodite plants, typically weighing between 400g to 800g. The smooth, thin skin turns yellow-orange with small freckles as it ripens, covering a deep orange-to-red, smooth-textured flesh with a small central cavity filled with small, dark, gelatinous seeds.

Foliage and Flowers: Features a crown of large, deeply palmately-lobed, hollow-petioled dark green leaves emanating from the top of the trunk, along with fragrant, pale cream-to-yellow five-petaled flowers.

Growth Habit: A fast-growing, semi-woody, single-stemmed herbaceous giant plant reaching heights of 6 to 12 feet, with fruit clustering densely along the main trunk beneath the leaf canopy.

Habitat and Growth

Origin: Developed by MARDI (Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute) in Malaysia as an improved commercial variety bred from local lines and Hawaii's 'Sunrise Solo'.

Climate: Thrives in hot, humid tropical lowlands with constant sunshine, warm temperatures, and well-distributed rainfall throughout the year.

Soil: Requires fertile, well-draining sandy loam or alluvial soil high in organic matter with a neutral to slightly acidic pH; extremely sensitive to root rot caused by standing water.

Uses

Culinary: Primarily enjoyed fresh as an everyday table fruit, diced into fruit salads, served alongside lime juice, or processed into fresh juices, purees, and fruit bowls.

Nutritional & Wellness: Abundant in Vitamin C, Vitamin A (beta-carotene), folate, and the digestive enzyme papain, which aids protein breakdown and supports intestinal health.

Order cancellation & reschedule delivery

Any cancellation of order or reschedule delivery shall be made before 6pm from the same day of placement of your order ("Grace Period") by contacting our customer service officer at veggies.my@gmail.com or our hotline: 016-6505535. Any request for cancellation made or reschedule delivery after the Grace Period will not be entertained.

We reserve the absolute discretion to approve or reject your request for cancellation or reschedule delivery. For any cancellation of your order, you shall be responsible for the payment of an administrative charge, which shall be determined by us prior to your cancellation. Notwithstanding anything stated to the contrary, no cancellation or reschedule delivery will be entertained once your orders have been shipped to your shipping address.
